WESSINGTON SPRINGS

Although Wessington Springs was not officially settled until 1882, the hills were an area where trappers and Native Americans gathered to trade for many years. Evidence of Wessington Springs’ rich history is visible on numerous nature trails. Enjoy unique cultural experiences at Shakespeare Garden & Anne Hathaway Cottage, peruse the Jerauld County Heritage Museums, or attend a performance at the historic 1905 Opera House. Five more sites are on the National Register of Historic buildings. Events: Foothills Rodeo - June, and Classic Car & Antique Tractor Show - August.
