Oyate Trail

Oyate Trail

Oyate (Oh-YAH-tay) in the Dakota/Lakota language, means a people or nation. Ochanku (oh-CHANG-koo) means well traveled road. Thus, Oyate Ochanku or Oyate Trail means "a well traveled road of nations." This route offers a unique alternative to interstate travel, with cultural and historical opportunities representing both the Lakota Sioux Indian and European Immigrants.
