Lewis & Clark Recreation Area
Lewis & Clark Recreation Area, (864 acres), situated on beautiful Lewis & Clark Lake, 6 miles west of Yankton off SD 52, is one of the state park system's favorite resort parks.
Three separate campgrounds comprise this modern recreation area, attracting visitors from throughout the Midwest.
Special Features: largest marina in the state, restaurant, campground and resort with pool, two swimming beaches, disc golf course, visitor center, park programs.
Trails: Lewis & Clark Recreation area provides six miles of paved scenic bike trails that follow beautiful Lewis & Clark Lake on the Missouri River.
The nature trail begins near the boat ramp at the Gavins Point Campground and continues for 1.2 miles along the bluffs of the Missouri. A scenic overlook at the top of the trail offers a beautiful view of the lake and the chalk rock bluffs.
A multi-use trail on the sloping bluffs along the Missouri River offers equestrian riders, hikers and mountain bikers a choice of three different loops with varying degrees of difficulty.
Facilities: 418 campsites - 417 electrical, 19 camping cabins (1 handicap accessible cabin), 8 horse camp sites and horse trail, large group campsites, 8 picnic shelters, showers, dump station, playground, handicap fishing dock and fish cleaning station, fishing /boat docks, archery trail, sand volleyball and horseshoe, soccer field, basketball, game/equipment checkout, fishing pole checkout, snowmobiling, canoeing/kayaking, handicap access.
