Lake Alvin Recreation Area, (59 acres), located 4 miles east, 1 mile north of Harrisburg, off Co. 135.
The focus of Lake Alvin is water recreation. It's a small park but is popular for its beach facilities (no lifeguard) and excellent fishing. The 105 acre lake contains walleye, northern pike, crappie, sunfish, perch, catfish and bullheads.
The entire lake is designated as a no-wake zone. At no time can any boat exceed 5 mph or produce a visitble wake.
Its proximity to Sioux Falls and Newton Hills State Park make it a great place to enjoy a day on the beach.
Facilities: swimming beach, picnic shelter, handicap accessible fishing dock, hiking trail, boat ramp. Entrance fee.
