It’s the Most Spookiest Time of the Year!

Ghosts, Werewolves, and Monsters make their way around Southeast South Dakota this time of year. From trick or treat events, to haunted trails and tours, there's events for everyone (some really scary and some for the little kids that aren't scary at all)!

Yankton Haunted History Tours – Oct. 25-26, 29-30   Dakota Territorial Museum, Yankton.
    One haunted house not enough? Then attend Yankton’s Haunted History Tours. There will be five stops along the historically, haunted tour. Tours are conducted twice each night and space is limited.

Shivers and Quivers Fun Shoot - Oct. 26   NFAA Easton Yankton Archery Complex, Yankton.
    This year’s Shivers and Quivers Fun Shoot features a glow in the dark theme! Wear your favorite Halloween costume and/or brightest attire. Enjoy the black light, fun glow-in-the-dark targets, prizes and more!

4th Annual Haunted Trail - Oct. 26-27   McCrory Gardens, Brookings
    Do you have what it takes to walk through the haunted trail? This spooky trail is intended for mature audiences. Come join the fun and be scared to death.

Haunted Corn Mazes
Oct. 26-27 – Heartland County Corn Maze, Harrisburg
    Come see what’s in the corn waiting to scare you... Bring your own flashlights or stay in the corn forever. Concessions and restroom available. Boo!

Oct. 27 – ATV Halloween Scare Ride  Talsma’s Trail Park, Avon
    Watch out! You never know who is on the trails after dark! At 5PM, trails will close and there will be a free-will donation chili feed and the guided night ride will begin shortly after.


Kids Mystery Dinner Theater – Oct. 25  Children's Museum of South Dakota, Brookings
   Kids can unleash their inner detective over dinner as a mystery unfolds in the museum. Talk to key witnesses, solve puzzles and gather clues to crack the case to solve this new mystery. Ages: 8-12

ZooBoo – Oct. 26-28  Great Plains Zoo, Sioux Falls
   Kids will wind their way through the decorated exhibits and walkways in the Zoo collecting candy and trinkets at a variety of treat tents from costumed presenters. Along the way, visitors dressed as their favorite superheroes or movie characters will pass by the Extinct Species Graveyard and see the markers for animals like the Dodo Bird and Caspian Tiger. Other highlights include the Spooky Carrousel and more than 300 hand-carved and lit Jack-o’-lanterns.

Trick or Treat Trails – Oct. 27  Big Sioux Recreation Area, Brandon
    Dress in your favorite Halloween costume and hit the trails! The decorated path will also feature a reflector challenge. Fun for all ages! Begins at 5PM.

Giggles and Ghouls at the Garden – Oct. 31  McCrory Gardens, Brookings
   Enjoy McCrory Gardens turned into Candyland! Celebrate Halloween at McCrory with games and, of course, plenty of candy!
