Big Sioux Recreation Area, (430 acres), on the banks of the Big Sioux River, is close to the cities of Brandon and Sioux Falls. Just follow I-90 to exit 406.
Special features: 1869 homestead cabin, some of the oldest trees in the state, 18 hole disc golf course, volleyball, archery range, canoeing/kayaking on the Big Sioux River, park programs.
Trails: Approximately five miles of moderate to somewhat difficult trails ramble through woodland and prairie. A bicycle trail connects with nearby Brandon. Horse trail. Snowmobile play area and warming house for snowshoers and snowmobilers.
Facilities: 49 total campsites - 43 electrical, 3 camping cabins (2 handicap accessible cabins), playground, picnic shelters, showers, dump station, fishing, fishing pole checkout, game/equipment checkout, snowshoe checkout, handicap access. Entrance fee.
